As it continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, there is an outstanding career opportunity for a Systems Engineer at ALSTOMís Rochester, NY location.
The Systems Engineer will participate in the specification, systems design, and integration of electronic blocks/cases and motors for propulsion and auxiliary applications for rail transportation. Specific responsibilities include the following:
∑ Provide technical leadership to the team working on the project. Assist the Project Manager on all technical issues.
∑ Understand the customer requirements in terms of needs and translate them into specifications in order to amend contractual specification or influence a tender specification.
∑ Elaborate and take responsibility for the overall architecture solution.
∑ Work with manufacturing, other engineering groups, program management and the safety engineering department to get support for the project.
∑ Interface with the customers and/or subcontractors on design issues and attend technical meetings.
∑ Prepare estimates for tenders providing material counts, engineering hours and technical proposal preparation as needed.
∑ Maintain a risk register with associated action plan.
∑ Provide technical input to the preparation of claims and/or change orders for a contract.
The qualified candidate will have the following experience and education:
∑ 2 years product development and systems design of power electronic systems
∑ 1-3 years system applications.
∑ 5 years systems design of rail propulsion equipment
∑ Electrical and dynamic simulation software (i.e. PSpice or SABRE and MatLAB), the application of electronics/electrical systems and integration/test of complicated systems.
∑ Application of S/W programming for real-time applications.
∑ Knowledge of systems engineering standard (IEEE 1220) a plus.
∑ BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. MS Electrical Engineering a plus.
