Our favorite client has a factory in North Carolina where they make lighting panelboards for industrial and institutional applications. This is one of the top four plants out of 104 plants that the business owns. The Materials Manager runs two shifts and has 7 direct reports who manage production control, each managing a different commodity (breakers,steel,tooling, hardware, molded parts and buss bars).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Lead all materials activities including purchasing, production planning and scheduling and
Responsibilities include: establishment of planned production rates, inventory management, improve supplier quality and delivery, provide timely accurate service, develop materials systems and process improvements.
1. BS degree plus 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a high-volume environment
2. Knowledge of materials (listed above), systems(MAIPCS) inventory control techniques and tools (visual management,
vendor-managed inventories, supplier score cards, stock on shelves)
3. Knowledge of FLOW and ability to operate in a FAST-PACED ENVIRONMENT
4. Strong demonstrated leadership skills and ability to motivate a team
This is a very fast-paced environment. This individual will be doing mostly INTERNAL purchasing (no leverage over price,
just service and delivery). External buying will be managed here, but done by the sourcing group in CT.
