(2) ASE-8 500KW GARRETT GAS FIRED TURBINES
Purchased the two units in March 2000 from a hotel in Santa Monica, California. The systems were approximately 8 years old and were used on average of 3,000 hours a year. The hotel had decided to purchase larger systems and at the time had anticipated closing a potential project in California that could effectively use these units for power at this customer’s facility.
The units were shipped to a Garrett repair dealer and were completely rebuilt. The units have been sitting in storage since last summer, as we have been unable to find a project/customer who had a power load and/or thermal requirement that could appropriately utilize these systems. Therefore, are interested in selling the units.

The units are considered “new condition” from the work performed and have a warranty for workmanship done on overhaul. The scope of work completed on the units were as follows:
Generators (2) were overhauled-warranty
Skids (2) were refurbished
Engines (2) were overhauled –warranty
Gear Boxes (2) were overhauled
Air inlet orientation – completed
Coupling (2) shear type – overhauled
Start system (2) 24 Vdc – overhauled
Fuel System (2) – overhauled
Lube oil system- duplex- completed
Lube oil pressure; lube manual system- completed 110Vac, 1 phase, 60 hZ
Lube oil vent separator- overhauled
Exhaust bellows- completed
Drip pans- new
Enclosures- (were old and banged up) no enclosures have been added at this time.
Scope of work: the turbine packages were stripped to the base frame. The frames were blasted to metal white and repainted with 3 coats of system paint. The base frames were rebuilt using existing major components. All major components such as pumps, motors, valves and regulators were replaced or refurbished. The turbine packages were refurbished to system specifications and procedures for Garrett turbines. All start, lube oil, gas and fuel system manifolds were cleaned and inspected with some being repaired and some being replaced. The gas producer and reduction gearboxes were overhauled and performance tested to manufacturer specifications. The generators were overhauled and tested with package acceptance test and to manufacturer specifications. All skid tubing was removed, inspected, cleaned and repaired or replaced. The skid junction boxes were removed, cleaned and inspected. They were in good shape so they were alloyed and reinstalled. The skid conduit was replaced with new-galvanized steel conduit. All the skid wiring, connectors and terminal boards were replaced and are new. The entire package was static tested and full load tested.
The units are considered to be in “excellent” condition. New units quoted by Vericor (formerly AlliedSignal Engines - ASE) have the systems listed for sale at $450,000 each. Since the units do not have enclosures and a few other items added it would cost an additional $30,000 per unit for the systems to be sold at or near the list price of $450,000 each.
I am listing the units for sale at $125,000 each (which includes shipping to any location in the USA). The cost per unit recovers cost for repairs only. Both units together for a total of $250,000. We believe it is possible to sell the units for $325,000 (as is) per unit, or $375,000 per unit with enclosures and switchgears added.
Attached to this information memorandum is a file picture on the two units when they were half way through being refurbished. I do not have a more current picture, but it provides the footprint size of each unit. The units weigh about 4,500 lbs (including enclosures) thus around 4,000 lbs without enclosures.
