Although Value stream mapping is a vast concept. It is in most simple terms be interpreted as the mapping of materials and information and finding the value and non value added times. value added time is the time for which the customer is willing to pay and non value added time is time which do not add any value like waiting, batching and so on.
It is done using current state map and the future state. The current state map helps u identifying where u r and future state map is where u want to go.
