Hi. As you probably have determined, I don't know much about metallurgy! :) But I do have a
question regarding series 6061-T6511 Aluminum and would really appreciate your help.

I am planning on constructing a gear drive between a gear attached to a very small engine
( <3 ft.-lbs torque and <3 HP ) and a gear welded or quite firmly attached to the rim of a tire,
with the rim being constructed out of 6061-T6511 aluminum. I know that torque can be
distributed over an area, and I imagine that the gear can be welded to a relatively large area
on the rim, but I am wondering... would 6061-T6511 aluminum be an OK metal to use for this
