I'm looking at doing a control retrofit on a variety of machines including Weidemann 4560 punch press, Farrel HMC and other VMC, HMC and lathe centres. My question is this.

Does anyone have any experience with PC based CNC controls. These controls can be run using a standard PC and I/O cards and require no proprietary hardware. Does anyone use these types of controls in an industrial environment? If so what has your experience been?

Thanks in advance,
