the pin numbers/functions on this display are standard, except that they're all in a line. The thing that's sure to throw you is that pin 3 , contrast, needs a NEGATIVE voltage with respect to ground to get any display at all. Between 3 and 6 volts is good. I find that the cheapness of the display is more than offset by the hassle of providing this negative supply. Have fun :-)
