Is a used transformer OK? If so, go to your local sign company, the ones who build, install and maintain
luminous tube signs ("neon signs") and see if they have any used ones from old signs. Depending upon
what you're going to use the sign for and who you are, they may let you have the transformer at no cost. I've
gotten four of them that way at various times for building Tesla coils. If you can get one that way and it's a
slightly newer one that has glass "female" connectors, you might also see if they have a pair of used mating
connectors for it. Profuse words of gratitude may be your only outlay.
