I heard that several companies are making chipsets for large volume
consumer markets such as pagers or set-top boxes.
Such devices are based on the direct-conversion architecture which makes
it possible to build a high performance, yet very compact and
inexpensive receiver. it is inexpensive because it dispenses with all
the IF filtering which is common in classical superheterodyne receivers.
Does someone know of a source of application notes about direct
conversion receivers. Maxim is an IC maker who offers free samples, but
I didn't find a lot of aopplication notes about its ICs.
