3 methods can be used, Stepper motor, Gearhead motor, an regular small motor with pulse control. The first two is to be used only for precision work and the stepper is more involved.
3v motors can be made to rotate at a low rmp when controlled by a mosfet, or any power transistor, with a low frequence oscillator applied to its gate. The rate of the oscillator (555 timer, 4011cmos nandgate) will determine the rpm of the motor.
