Hi. In an earlier reply on the same subject I mentioned that the National LM1812 Ultrasonic Transceiver chip was a good choice for such a design. Unfortunately, it turned out that National had discontinued the chip and it was apparently unsvailable.
A reader in Mexico has E-Mailed me to advise that a Mexican supplier has some stock there @ $6.60.

I can scan and forward you a copy of the original data sheets which contain a lot of useful application material.
