Belinda, As you notice the standard telephone jack has 4 wires. Red, green, yellow and black. Line 1 is the red and green pair, with line two being the black and yellow pair. Most telephone devices use pair 1 position. That is to say the center two wires. In the room you wish to use a device on line two, connect the black and yellow wires to the line one position. If you look the jack you will notice it's internal wiring is as I described. Just connect the black and yellow wires to the terminals that have the red and green wires on them. If the device does not work properly reverse the the black and yellow wires. Good luck Ned
