Some time has elapsed since your postings, (now May 2002) however, I too have acquired an old Magellan OEM 5000 GPS receiver card and would welcome any info at all on the OEM 5000 in case it may be resurrected. Specific info on pinouts or how to interact with it via it's interface/s would be helpful.
There is no message or any other sign of life at present, however, on power up (12VDC) it draws ~120mA for a few mins then drops suddenly to zero current drain (inactivity shutdown?).
It is possible that I may need to send characters to it before any data is issued by the card? I've tried a subset of NMEA enquiries without any response. I also e-mailed Thales seeking info on this old GPS (since Thales acquired Magellan) but I didn't get any reply whatsoever.
I hope you guys had more luck.
Regards, Jon
