Hi, tj.

I have responded to a couple of prior postings about using logic gates to make crystal oscillators. What I've tried to convey is that I see it as a quick way to grow old fast and to markedly increase one's consumption of Tylenol! That particular circuit has caused no end of grief and frustration for a LOT of people!!!.

In your situation, it is a possibility that your crystal cracked if say, the RF currents through the crystal put too much strain on the quartz. This is only one of the hazards associated with this circuit however. If you need to design a product with an oscillator in it, I would REALLY suggest that you design-in a reliable vendor's oscillator product.

Good luck.
