The Fluke Corporation (formerly the John Fluke Manufacturing Company) has two good applications notes that they'll give you for no charge. Ask for them by title: "ABCs of DMMs: Multimeter features and functions explained" and "ABCs of Multimeter Safety". They're at http://www.fluke.com or at 800-443-5853
