The VLM5030 is a pulse code modulation chip made by Sanyo in the early 1980's, used in various entertainment devices. Sanyo has not been forthcoming with information both from their website or through phone calls, and pretty much every online resource has not found any info, including Questlink, Chipdir, USENET:sci.electronics.components and other miscellaneous sources.
