I am a non techie; retiring for the purpose doing research in textile machines.
The ginning drum,Lap winding drum and carding drum are wider in size and larger in diameter..They work in slow speed. Reduction gears are used to reduce the speed..
My question is, why don't we reduce the size of the dia. and width, increase the speed dispensing with the reduction gears and increase the speed..
To avoid the frictional heat air cooling and heat resising materials like wood and or plastics can be used..
Will they not save the space, materials, energy etc.?
Comments for and against are welcome by e'mail<balu@pppindia.com>
