Subject: Machining slate

I have some pieces of slate 1" thick that require some 1/8" blind grooves and some 1/4" holes one of which is counter-bored to take a nut. Any suggestions as to how to go about the job would be most welcome. Type of cutters and whether I could make them myself. It is a one-off job but very important.
